Task Force for Global Health taps Resonance

New Web site for International Trachoma Initiative to launch this fall

An organization working to eliminate blinding trachoma by the year 2020 has hired Resonance Marketing to develop a media-rich Web portal to help advance its efforts.

In redesigning and developing www.trachoma.org, Resonance will give the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) a more powerful tool to support its objectives of advocacy, knowledge sharing and distribution of Zithromax medication to fight trachoma. ITI is an initiative of the Task Force for Global Health, an international public health non-profit.

As the world’s leading cause of preventable blindness, trachoma currently infects more than 84 million people, mostly in the poorest regions of Africa and Asia. More than 10 percent of the world’s population is at risk of becoming blind from trachoma, and the disease has incapacitated families and communities for centuries.

When launched later this year, the new trachoma.org will allow visitors to view content in French or English, in high or low- bandwidth, and in variable type sizes; access audio, video and slideshow content; and tap a wealth of information through documents, blog and e-newsletter.

The site will include secure access to an extranet to facilitate communication with ITI’s program managers in 18 countries, nearly all of whom have limited access to the Web.
